Studying in China

Running along the harbor at 6 in the morning in Hong Kong, does it get any better then this? Yea I think it does, how about stopping halfway through that run to do tai chi with the locals? Love my life!

From My visit at Macau

Things that are crazy about China, or weird, or as I would like to call them “different”

  1. the smells
  2. the bathrooms, let me just explain this to you. You walk in to my bathroom and it is a giant walk in shower with the toilet and the sink right in there with it (not very cleanly), and the hot water lasts for I’d say about 10 to 15 min depends on how finicky it is that day. And don’t get me started on public bathrooms, can you say squatty potty? haha
  3. The food, sometimes I feel like it’s not so clean lol yes I just said my food isn’t so clean.
  4. The people and how they find burping or hacking a loogy is acceptable in public. Or how they take pictures of the crazy Meiguoren (americans) as they have their taiji class in the middle of the park. I went for a run yesterday and had people taking my picture….AW thanks guys I didn’t realize I was FAMOUS!
  5. How there is absolutely NO central heating in any building south of the Yangzi River (guess where I am?). So Cold
  6. I could go on……

China is so different from back in the States, but that’s okay because it is all an experience right? There is so much to love though, the bakery’s and how you can find one absolutely everywhere. The buildings are so beautiful. And the fact that I am a two min walk from the Ocean! The language is hard, but it’s coming along :) and the culture here is so interesting.

Went to something called a “lantern festival” the other night and it was absolutely beautiful. It’s the year of the dragon so there were dragons everywhere and some of the lanterns they had up were so adorable. Don’t worry pictures will be posted soon :)

Classes are starting to come to the end of the first half of semester and I will be taking my finals in less then a week (EEEEKKKK). Then off on our “trek” where I get to visit some of THE COOLEST places (Yes y’all should be jealous). Then when I come back I start my internship, soooo nervous but soooo excited.

Everywhere we went there were couples getting their wedding photos done. They had some of the craziest, wildest dresses I had ever seen, but this one I couldn’t help but take a picture of. They were so adorable!

So today I had my Taiji final and it was beautiful out so a couple hours before I went down to the beach with some friends to practice a little bit. I turned my back for literally five seconds and my purse is stolen….. Bye Bye iPhone, bye bye headphones, bye bye credit card, bye bye debit card…… Geesh, this is going to be a LOOOOOOONGGGG 6 weeks :( I had literally everything in my phone, maybe this is God telling me I was too reliant on technology. Haha well I have to look at the positives now.

Oh the Joys of China

So I am getting ready to leave in two hours for Guizhou, where I will be going up the mountains for some quality nature time lol also known as our service project. I’m not entirely sure what we will be doing, but I know it’s some quality hard work haha I’m ready!

After the service project we will be heading up to Xi’an where I will actually be getting central heating :) yay toast! I’m definitely ready for some traveling and sightseeing. And I absolutely can’t wait to get to Beijing and see some PANDAS!!!!!! The downside is that the only time I will get internet is if we find internet cafes, but I have been informed they are everywhere so that is a plus :)

Welp, here goes nothing!
